We are pleased to report that on November 10, 2009, the public approved all of the propositions that were a part of a 5-part capital project referendum. Since space is limited, I will not repeat the details of the propositions here. Interested parties can view a capital project video or read about the project at the superintendent’s blog at www.crinaldi.edublogs.org. The results of the vote were as follows: | | Prop #1 Miscellaneous Renovations to GES, GMS and GHS | Prop #2 Renovations to GHS auditorium and gymnasium | Prop #3 Construct four new GHS science classrooms and two computer labs | Prop #4 Stabilization of Thatcher Brook stream bank | Prop #5 Create new capital reserve fund | | Yes | 177 | 176 | 156 | 183 | 161 | | No | 76 | 75 | 95 | 67 | 83 | Seeking and then obtaining public approval for a capital project is certainly a team effort. First and foremost, we want to thank the voting public for its continued support. The passage of the five propositions demonstrates a forward-looking community that is dedicated not only to student safety but also the creation of 21st century learning environments. I personally want to thank the Board of Education for its support and involvement in the entire process. Lastly, our gratitude is extended to the staff of the Gowanda Central School District, Habiterra Associates, Hodgson Russ LLP, Municipal Services, Inc. and the State Education Department, all of whom helped to make the initial phase of this project a success. There is much yet to be accomplished and the journey is just beginning. Thanks to you all.
