GCS Staff Development

Many of the learning opportunities offered to our faculty and staff are developed with the help of the staff development experts at Erie II BOCES, the Joint Management Team that works to provide opportunities to the districts within three BOCES to include the Cattaraugus Allegany BOCES, and the Common Set of Learning Objectives trainers at Erie I BOCES. This is an affordable way for districts to provide valuable, up to date staff development opportunities to our entire faculty and staff. Training is offered on site and also at the various BOCES centers.

As we continue the work started in July and August of 2008, we understand the importance of providing on-going support to our teachers. As teachers learn and implement our K-6 reading program, curriculum design and input into TechPaths, the eSchool Parent Portal, lessons on the Smartboards, and website design, we will offer support in many different ways. For those who need it, we can send teachers to additional workshops at BOCES, bring in "tech" experts to work with teachers after school and on preparation periods, and to continue the learning in sessions offered on topics such as: "Writing Good Essential Questions"; "How do I use formative assessments to determine my instruction?"; "Developing Smartboard Lessons"; "Orton-Gillingham"; "Macmillan Treasures & Triumphs"; "TechPaths--Help With My Maps"; "Further Analysis of Student Work".

Teachers and staff, as well as community member who are interested, can find the upcoming staff development opportunities linked on the main page of this webiste, under the calendar.
